hUMOR For July 9th

About a month ago, I asked any GCF readers that wished, to
participate in a "longest and shortest list" project. I provided the
start of two lists:

(1) Shortest Lists
(2) Longest Lists

Here are the "starter" lists (and no offense is intended!)

SHORTEST LISTS
Complete list of native German Humorists
Complete list of honest politicians
Complete list of book reviews by Paris Hilton

LONGEST LISTS
Complete list of egocentric professional athletes
Complete list of TV viewers tired of reality shows

With that as background, here are the results submitted by 38 readers
of GCF. In this final version I have chosen not to identify the
source of the lists, even though many said it was alright to use their
name, etc.

There were some duplicates and some that were just not fit for
incorporating in the Good Clean Fun list. If you do not see what you
submitted exactly as you sent it to me, it was probably a duplicate
and I combined what I received. I also exercised editorial powers
over the results and changed the wording of some submissions.

There is the Law of Gravity - And then, there is the Law of Parenthood

A child's behavior will improve in proportion to the distance she is away
from the parent.

Two is equal to two, except when referring to time. Two minutes of tantrum
lasts 20 times as long as two minutes of quiet time.

The choice of a preschooler's best friend corresponds directly to the
distance the friend lives from your house.

A child's enjoyment of a popular entertainment will be inversely
proportionate to the parent's enjoyment.

The chance of a surprise visit by your parents-in-law is directly
proportional to the size of the mess in your home.

A child will always eat exactly what she has loved for the past year unless
it is the only food in the fridge.

The ease with which a toddler acquires the ability to say a word increases
with its likelihood to embarrass a sailor.

A young monk arrives at the monastery. He is assigned to helping the other monks in copying the old canons and laws of the church by hand. He notices, however, that all of the monks are copying from copies, not from the original manuscript. So, the new monk goes to the head abbot to question this, pointing out that if someone made even a small error in
the first copy, it would never be picked up. In fact, that error would be continued in all of the subsequent copies.

The head monk, says, "We have been copying from the copies for centuries, but you make a good point, my son." So, he goes down into the dark caves underneath the monastery where the original manuscripts are held as archives in a locked vault that hasn't been opened for hundreds of years Hours go by and nobody sees the old abbot. So, the young monk gets worried and goes down to look for him. He sees him banging his head against the wall and wailing, "We missed the "R", we missed the "R." His forehead is all bloody and bruised and he is crying uncontrollably.

The young monk asks the old abbot, "What's wrong, father?"
With a choking voice, the old abbot replies, "The word was CELEBRATE."

"Sixty is the worst age to be," said the 60-year-old man. "You always feel like you have to pee and most of the time you stand there and nothing comes out.""Ah, that's nothin," said the 70-year-old. "When you're seventy, you don't have a bowel movement any more. You take laxatives, eat bran, sit on the toilet all day and nothin' comes out!""Actually," said the 80-year -old, "Eighty is the worst age of all.""Do you have trouble peeing, too?" asked the 60-year old."No, I pee every morning at 6:00. I pee like a racehorse on a flat rock; no problem at all.""So, do you have a problem with your bowel movement?""No, I have one every morning at 6:30."Exasperated, the 60-year-old said, "You pee every morning at 6:00 and poop every morning at 6:30. So what's so bad about being 80?""I don't wake up until 7:00."

The Box
by Robert Byron

On many of the projects that I have recently worked on, people have told me
to, "Think outside of the box." First of all, I'd like to know what box they
are referring to. Second, why do they assume I'm inside of a box? Third, if
I am inside a box how did I get there? I don't remember climbing into it nor
do I remember being put into one. If I was, it was against my will and
without my knowledge.

It hasn't restricted my breathing. The air doesn't even appear to be stale.
If I am inside a box it doesn't seem to limit my mobility. As I move around,
I'm not kicking the sides so it would seem that it is a rather large box. As
a matter of fact, I have no recollection of ever having run into the sides.
It would seem to me that the box is large enough for me to do all the
thinking I need to do.

Assuming that I am in a box, I have no experience thinking outside of it and
since I have done pretty well so far, I'm not sure that I want to do any
thinking outside of the box. How do I know if I'm qualified to think outside
of the box and if I am, who determines my qualifications? What qualifies a
person to tell me that I should think outside of the box? Do these people
think outside of the box? Do these people even see the box? Do these people
know what they are talking about?

If the new thing is to think outside of the box, shouldn't someone stay in
the box to do some thinking? I mean, if everybody is doing their thinking
outside of the box, who is minding the box? When I have an empty box lying
around, it generally gets thrown away. Do we really want to risk losing the
box where most of us have done our thinking for most of our lives?

If I go outside the box, can I get back in? Can someone guarantee that if I
don't like thinking outside of the box that I can get back in? Before we
tackle this question perhaps we should discuss how to get out of the box to
begin with. Is there a door? I'd prefer an escalator if possible.

I guess when people tell me to "Think outside of the box," I'll just keep
thinking inside the box. How will they tell the difference. Pretty soon
everybody will be thinking outside the box and the new thing will be to
think inside the box. When it is, I'll be ready. I'll already be there.

I just spent several hours observing teenagers who were
hanging out at our local mall. I came to the conclusion that
many teenagers in America are living in poverty. Most of the
young men I observed didn't even own a belt; there was not
one among the whole group.

But that wasn't the sad part -- many of them were wearing
their daddy's jeans. Some of these jeans were so big and
baggy that they hung low on their hips, exposing their
underwear. I know some of them must have been ashamed that
their daddies were short, because the jeans hardly went
below their knees. They weren't even their daddies' good
jeans, for most of them had holes ripped in the knees and
had a dirty look to them. It grieved me that in a modern,
affluent society like America, there are people who can't
afford a decent pair of jeans. I have been thinking about
asking my church to start a jeans drive for the "poor kids
at the mall."

I don't think this group of guys even had much to eat,
because as they were walking, their heads leaned to one side
as if they didn't have enough strength to keep them up. Oh,
they tried. With each step, they tried to lift them up, but
to no avail: they always dropped back to the side. This
group of guys must be from the same family, because they all
walked with their heads bobbing together in the same manner.

But that wasn't the saddest part. It was the girls they were
hanging out with that disturbed me the most. I have never in
all of my life seen such "poor" girls. These girls had the
opposite problem of the guys -- they all had to wear their
little sisters' clothes. Their jeans were about five sizes
too small. I don't know how they could even put them on, let
alone button them up. Their jeans barely went over their
hipbones.

Most of them also had on their little sisters' tops; it
hardly covered their midsections. Oh, they were trying to
hold their heads up with pride, but it was a sad sight to
see these almost grown women wearing children's clothes.

However, it was their underwear that bothered me the most.
They, like the boys, because of the improper fitting of
their clothes, also had their underwear exposed. I have
never seen anything like it. It looked like their underwear
was only held together by a single piece of string.

I know it also saddens your heart to receive this report on
the condition of our American teenagers. While I go to bed
every night with a closet full of clothes nearby, there are
millions of "mall girls" who barely have enough material to
keep it together. I think their "poorness" is why these two
groups gather at the mall, the boys with their short
daddies' ripped jeans, and the girls wearing their younger
sisters' clothes. The mall is one place where they can find
acceptance.

So, the next time you are at the mall doing your shopping
and you pass by some of these poor teenagers, would you say
a prayer for them?

CleanPun - "New Minister"
A church was looking for a new minister, and the selection committee finally recommended a young man just out of the seminary. Many older church members protested that a more experienced man would have been preferable.
Committee members retaliated with the argument that a younger minister might breathe fresh life into the congregation. At the end of the meeting, I commented to an older man that this marked the beginning of better things for our church.
"Yes," he said with a wry smile. "Moving on to greener pastors."

Happy Birthday Elsie!

I play pinochle regularly with seven other women, most of whom are 70

Independence Day

The anniversary of the independence of the United States of America is
celebrated on July fourth of each year. There are many traditions associated
with this American holiday but few people know the origins of these customs.

In 1767, England began taxing the tea sent to her American colonies. The
colonists where very much against this "taxation without representation"
and, in protest, refused the unloading of the tea from the ships. The
colonists became so upset about the taxation issue that, in 1773, a band of
colonists invaded the ships of the East India Company while dressed as
Native Americans and tossed a plethora of tea into Boston Harbor. The
incident would soon come to be known as the Boston Tea Party.

Many Americans now celebrate this historic event on July fourth by visiting
the very ocean that contains the tea from the Boston Tea Party. Although you
cannot drink the tea from the ocean, many people symbolize the action by
partaking of their favorite alcoholic beverage. Each summer, hordes of
people can be seen occupying the many beaches of the United States to honor
this historic event. Many people will lay out in the sun until their
epidermis turns red to symbolize the skin color of the Native Americans that
the Boston colonists imitated during their raid.

In 1774, at one of the first coastal celebrations of the Boston Tea Party,
two young men were playing catch with a pie pan when one of the youths
accidentally stepped on Benjamin Franklin. Franklin told the young man, "Hey
kid! Don't tread on me!" The saying was soon incorporated into what is now
known as the Gadsden Flag that was carried into battle during the
revolutionary war.

The story is told of George Washington, the first president of the United
States, when, as a young boy, he chopped down one of his fathers valuable
cherry trees. His father questioned George about the incident and the
younger Washington confessed by saying, "Father, I cannot tell a lie. It was
I who chopped down the cherry tree." For most people, this is where the
story ends but in reality, there is more.

You must understand that during this time of American history, people wasted
very little and there was now a dilemma as to what should be done with the
cherry tree. George Washington's father pondered on the idea and thought
that if only he come up with some kind of food to insert on the ends of the
tree limbs, he could extend the limbs over an open fire in order to cook the
food.

Mr. Washington had another problem as well. Being a pig farmer, he was
receiving complaints from colonial environmentalists about contamination in
the Potomac River by waste runoff from his farm. He solved both of his
problems by collecting the waste, forming it into a tube, inserting the end
of a branch from the cherry tree and roasted it over an open fire. The
wienie roast is still an American Fourth of July tradition today.

During the French and Indian War of 1754-1763, George Washington was taught
the fine art of potato krinkling by a captured French chef. These krinkle
cut potatoes were then cooked in a kettle of animal fat until golden brown.
It is this French delicacy, known as the French Fry, that now accompanies
the main course at a wienie roast.

Later on in U.S. history and during an American Civil War battle at
Manassas, Virginia, known as the Battle of Bull Run, many innocent cattle,
mostly bulls, were slaughtered in their attempt to "run" from the battle.
The bulls attempted to protect the cows and calves and as a result, were
torn to bits by both the Union and Confederate forces. After the battle, the
hungry soldiers collected bits of beef from the ground (ground beef) and
made them into "cow patties." Since the battle occurred just weeks after the
July Fourth celebrations of 1861, these "patties" soon became a traditional
July fourth source of nourishment.

In June of 1776, a Philadelphia seamstress named Betsy Ross was approached
by Thomas Jefferson and asked to design a red, white and blue flag with
thirteen stars and thirteen stripes. Betsy questioned the design saying that
the color and patterns would probably make the appearance of the flag "too
busy" and that project would be aesthetically challenging. She asked why he
would want her to make such a thing as that which he asked. Mr. Jefferson,
not wanting to divulge the true intentions of the endeavor, told Ms. Ross
that the flag was a practical joke for John Adams.

Betsy made the flag but the original colors were entirely too bright. She
washed the fabric until she was satisfied with the color balance and, since
her clothesline was already full with the washing of the day, hung the new
flag on a pole that extended outward from her front porch.

Betsy's neighbors knew that, as a popular seamstress, she was up to date on
the current market trends in apparel fabrics. Seeing that Betsy had
displayed her new fabric from a pole on her front porch, they hurried to
create knockoff fabrics. Soon Americans were displaying copies of Betsy's
flag from their front porches and the tradition is carried on to this day by
the display of the American Flag from the porches of Americans each Fourth
of July.

Family Member: "Maybe, you should turn it over to

both!"
Family Member: "Do you think God will be mad at her?"
Bank: "Excuse me?"
Family Member: "Did you just get what I was telling
you - the part about her being dead?"
Bank: "Sir, you'll have to speak to my supervisor."
Supervisor gets on the phone:
Family Member: "I'm calling to tell you, she died in

Bank: "The account was never closed and the late fees

Family Member: "You mean you want to collect from her

Bank: (Stammer) "Are you her lawyer?"

Family Member: "Well, if you figure it out, great! If
not, you could just keep billing her. I don't think
she will care."
Bank: "Well, the late fees and charges do still
apply."

The Last Laugh today goes to Tom Fowler for this funny
one -- I love senior citizens

A very self-important college freshman attending a
recent football game, took it upon himself to explain
to a senior citizen sitting next to him why it was
impossible for the older generation to understand his
generation.

"You grew up in a different world, actually an almost
primitive one," the student said, loud enough for many
of those nearby to hear. "The young people of today
grew up with television, jet planes, space travel, man
walking on the moon, our spaceships have visited
Mars...We have nuclear energy, electric and hydrogen
cars, computers with light-speed processing.....and,"
pausing to take another drink.....

The Senior took advantage of the break in the
student's litany and said, "You're right, son. We
didn't have those things when we were young.....so we
invented them.

Now, you arrogant little nincompoop, what are you
doing for the next generation?"

I love senior citizens!

Blind Date

"That was nice of you to set up a blind date for your ex-boyfriend."

"I know, but I don't hold any grudges."

"I'm surprised he trusted you enough to agree to go out with her."

"Wow! Is that true?"

"I wouldn't lie. She's twice her weight and twice her age."

hUMOR For July 4th

"Swahili Gasp"
A company was producing an English-language movie. In one scene, an exhausted messenger was supposed to dash in, collapse, and gasp out a vital message in Swahili. The company even found someone who knew the language. The scene worked beautifully in the movie -- until it played in an African town where Swahili was well known. A moment of high drama nose-dived into comedy as the panting messenger gasped
out:
"I don't think I am being paid enough for this part!"

One year, Johnny's family was having an "extended family"
4th of July cookout at their home. One of the special treats
that year was lighting the fireworks (Roman candles, bottle
rockets, missile batteries, etc.) they had bought out of
state (they're illegal in their state, of course!).

Just before they were to arrive, a cousin called, saying his
neighbors' plans had just fallen through and asking if he
bring them along to the picnic -- they even had extra food
to bring. "Sure, the more the merrier!"

When the cousin arrived with his neighbors, it was
discovered that the head of that family was a police
officer. Johnny's father turned as innocently as he could to
his son and whispered to him to grab the paper bag of
fireworks sitting in the kitchen and hide them somewhere
quickly. Johnny disappeared, and the father changed the
topic to food for the day. This family had brought some
chicken to grill, so the father told them the gas grill was
all set to use out back -- they just had to turn on the gas
and push the ignition button with the lid still closed.

They headed out to the back as Johnny returned through the
front door. The father hurried to him and said, "Whew, that
was close! That man's a police officer, and he almost saw
the fireworks. Did you hide them real well?"

"Oh, yeah, nobody will ever think to look in the grill!"

"Chocolate Is Bad," Study Says

Think chocolate is harmless? A study performed by a team of freshman
cosmetology students has determined that chocolate is bad for human
consumption. Laboratory experiments involving rats have shown evidence that
the decadent delight can cause severe health problems and even death.

"The results of our research are shocking," said Mildred Sisk, A Senior
Washroom Attendant for the Institute of Advanced Cosmetology Science. "We
took five hundred rats and dunked them in a vat of chocolate for thirty
minutes. Surprisingly, not even one survived. If chocolate does this to
rats, imagine what would do to a human body."

Ms. Sisk's theory has been challenged by some in the scientific community
who claim that, more than likely, the cause of death for the rats was
drowning. "Those folks don't know anything. They're just jealous because
they didn't thing of it first," stated Ms. Sisk. "They weren't there and
didn't see what I saw. Besides, when humans eat chocolate, it coats the
inside of the body, so in reality, the body is suffocating from the inside
out."

Further testing is scheduled using live chickens.

Nursery School Patriotism

The Fourth of July was coming up, and the nursery school teacher took
the opportunity to tell her class about patriotism. "We live in a
great country," she said. "One of the things we should be happy about
is that, in this country, we are all free."

One little boy came walking up to her from the back of the room. He
stood with his hands on his hips and said, "I'm not free. I'm four."

The waitress made seven instant enemies and one fast friend by asking the question, "Which one is Elsie?"

I took my granddaughter to church camp for the first time last weekend. Behind the sanctuary is a restroom facility that is separate from other buildings. A common topic of conversation was a problem that was occurring this year - bugs and crickets seem to seek refuge in the restroom.
One evening during church service, my granddaughter asked me where the bathroom was because she needed to use it. I told she could use the restroom behind the sanctuary.
She exclaimed, "Grandma, I am afraid to go to that restroom because there are a lots of bugs and hypocrites in there."

Many people think that history is a dull subject. Dull? Is it "dull" that
Jesse James once got bitten on the forehead by an ant, and at first it
didn't seem like anything, but then the bite got worse and worse, so he
went to a doctor in town, and the secretary told him to wait, so he sat down
and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited, and then finally he got to
see the doctor, and the doctor put some salve on it? You call that dull?

On a joint military exercise an English soldier, an American solider, and a
Russian soldier found themselves sharing a tent while on a military exercise
and the conversation turned towards how well fed each of them was.

"In the Russian army we get 2000 calories of food a day" said the Russian.

"Well," said the Englishman, "in the British army we are given 4000 calories
of food a day."

"That's nothing," said the American, "in the US army we get 8000 calories
of food a day."

At this the Russian got very annoyed. "Nonsense," he said, "how could one

Do you realize that the only time in our lives when we like to
get old is when we're kids? If you're less than 10 years old, you're so
excited about aging that you think in fractions.

"How old are you?" "I'm four and a half!" You're never
thirty-six and a half. You're four and a half, going on five! That's the key.

You get into your teens, now they can't hold you back. You
jump to the next number, or even a few ahead.
"How old are you?" "I'm gonna be 16!" You could be 13, but
hey, you're gonna be 16! And then the greatest day of your life . . you
become 21! Even the words sound like a ceremony . . YOU BECOME = 21.
YESSSS!!!

But then you turn 30. Oooohh, what happened there? Makes you
sound like bad milk! He TURNED; we had to throw him out. There's no fun
now, you're Just a sour-dumpling. What's wrong? What's changed?

You BECOME 21, you TURN 30, then you're PUSHING 40. Whoa!
Put on the brakes, it's all slipping away. Before you know it, you REACH 50
and your dreams are gone.
But wait!!! You MAKE it to 60. You didn't think you would!
So you BECOME 21, TURN 30, PUSH 40, REACH 50 and MAKE it to 60.
You've built up so much speed that you HIT 70! After that it's
a day-by-day thing; you HIT Wednesday!

You get into your 80s and every day! is a complete cycle; you
HIT lunch; you TURN 4:30; you REACH bedtime. And it doesn't end there.
Into the 90s, you start going backwards; "I Was JUST 92."

Then a strange thing happens. If you make it over 100, you
become a little kid again. "I'm 100 and a half!"
May you all make it to a healthy 100 and a half!!

Dogs Prayers to God

Dear God, How come people love to smell flowers, but seldom smell one
another? Where are their priorities?

Dear God, When we get to Heaven, can we sit on your couch? Or is it the same
old story?

Dear God, Excuse me, but why are there cars named after the jaguar, the
cougar, the mustang, the colt, the stingray, and the rabbit, but not one
named for a dog? How often do you see a cougar riding around? We dogs love a
nice ride! I know every breed cannot have its own model, but it would be
easy to rename the Chrysler Eagle the Chrysler Beagle!

Dear God, If a dog barks his head off in the forest and no human hears him,
is he still a bad dog?

Dear God, Is it true that in Heaven, dining room tables have on-ramps?

Dear God, If we come back as humans, is that good or bad?

Dear God, More meatballs, less spaghetti, please.

Dear God, When we get to the Pearly Gates, do we have to shake hands to get
in?

Dear God, We dogs can understand human verbal instructions, hand signals,
whistles, horns, clickers, beepers, scent IDs, electromagnetic energy fields
and Frisbee flight paths. What do humans understand?

Dear God, Are there dogs on other planets or are we alone? I have been
howling at the moon and stars for a long time, but all I ever hear back is
the beagle across the street!

Dear God, Are there mailmen in Heaven? If there are, will I have to
apologize?

What Is That Stuff?

When the driver of a huge trailer lost control of his rig, he plowed
into an empty tollbooth and smashed it to pieces.

He climbed down from his truck to survey the wreckage and within a
matter of minutes, a truck pulled up and discharged a crew of state
department of transportation workers.

The men picked up each broken piece of the former tollbooth and
spread some kind of creamy substance on it. Then they began fitting
the pieces together.

In less than a half hour, they had the entire tollbooth reconstructed
and looking good as new.

"Astonishing!" the truck driver said to the crew chief.

"What was the white stuff you used to get all the pieces together?"

After getting all of Pope Benedict's luggage loaded into the

the Pope was still standing on the curb.

"Excuse me, Your Eminence," said the driver, "would you

"Well, to tell you the truth," said the Pope, "they never
let me drive at the Vatican, and I'd really like to drive
today."

"I'm sorry, but I cannot let you do that. I'd lose my job!
And what if something should happen?" protested the driver,
wishing he'd never gone to work that morning.

"There might be something extra in it for you," said the
Pope.

Reluctantly, the driver got in the back as the Pope climbed
in behind the wheel. The driver quickly regretted his

"Please slow down, Your Holiness!!!" pleaded the worried
driver, but the Pope kept the pedal to the metal until they

The Pope pulled over and rolled down the window as the cop

"So bust him," said the Chief.

"I don't think we want to do that; he's really important,"

Then the Chief exclaimed, "All the more reason!"

"No, I mean really important," said the cop.

The Chief then asked, "Who ya got there, the mayor?"

Cop: "Bigger."

Chief: "Governor?"

Cop: "Bigger."

Cop: "I think it's God!"

Chief: "What makes you think it's God?"

Cop: "He's got the Pope for a limo driver!"

Every year my employer offers T-shirts to the employees with our logo
emblazoned across the front. In order to get one, all we have to do is call
the person in charge of T-shirt distribution and tell them the size that we
want. Since my employer doesn't often give us stuff, I always take full
advantage of the situation and order one. A couple of years ago I called the
T-shirt distributor and asked that he reserve a shirt for me.

"What size do you want? We have large and extra large."

"I'll take a medium."

"We don't have mediums. All we have are large and extra large."

"But I want a medium."

"But we don't have mediums."

"I'll take a small."

"We don't have small. We have large and extra large."

"I'll take a medium."

I could tell that the distributor was getting very frustrated with me so I
decided to settle for a large size shirt. I told all of my coworkers about
my conversation with the distributor and most of them agreed that they would
do the same and ask the distributor for size medium. Last year, a memo was
circulated saying that, due to the high demand, size medium shirts would now
be offered. I immediately called to order my shirt.

"What size would you like? We have medium, large and extra large."

"I'll take a small."

"We don't have small. We have medium, large and extra large."

"But I want a small."

"But we don't have small. We only have medium, large and extra large."

"I thought the memo said you would have small."

"The memo said we would have medium this year."

"But I want a small."

"We don't have small."

I told the guy I'd settle for a large and proceeded to inform my coworkers
of my antics. This time, most of them tried to order a size small shirt
without success. Within a couple of days all of the large and extra large
shirts were gone but not one size medium shirt was given away.

As T-shirt time fast approaches, a memo has been distributed announcing that
size small T-shirts will be available this year due to the heavy interest
shown for them last year. The shirts will be available in two weeks. Size
mediums are available now.

I was riding to work yesterday when I observed a female
driver cut right in front of a pickup truck, causing the
driver to swerve onto the shoulder to avoid hitting her.
This evidently angered the driver enough that he hung his
arm out his window and gave the woman the finger.

"Man, that guy is stupid," I thought to myself. I always
smile nicely and wave in a sheepish manner whenever a female
does anything to me in traffic and here's why: I drive 48
miles each way every day to work; that's 96 miles each day.
Of these, 16 miles each way are bumper-to-bumper. Most of
the bumper-to-bumper is on an 8-lane highway. There are 7
cars every 40 feet for 32 miles. That works out to be 982
cars every mile, or 31,424 cars.

Even though the rest of the 32 miles is not
bumper-to-bumper, I figure I pass at least another 4,000
cars. That brings the number to something like 36,000 cars
that I pass every day. Statistically, females drive half of
these. That's 18,000 women drivers! In any given group of
females, 1 in 28 has PMS. That's 642. According to
Cosmopolitan, 70% describe their love life as dissatisfying
or unrewarding. That's 449. According to the National
Institute of Health, 22% of all females have seriously
considered suicide or homicide. That's 98. And 34% describe
men as their biggest problem. That's 33. According to the
National Rifle Association, 5% of all females carry weapons,
and this number is increasing.

That means that every single day, I drive past at least one
female who has a lousy love life, thinks men are her biggest
problem, has seriously considered suicide or homicide, has
PMS, and is armed.

Give her the finger? .... I don't think so!!!!!!!

They advise people to wear noise-producing devices such as little bells on

They also advise the carrying of pepper spray in case of an encounter with
an alligator.

It is also a good idea to watch for fresh signs of alligator activity.
People should learn to recognize the difference between small young

Young alligator droppings are small and contain fish bones and possibly

Adult alligator droppings have little bells in them and smell like pepper

"How about that!" my husband exclaimed happily. "It's 36.5%

King Arthur and the Witch:

Young King Arthur was ambushed and imprisoned by the monarch of a neighboring kingdom. The monarch could have killed him but was moved by Arthur's youth and ideals. So, the monarch offered him his freedom, as long as he could answer a very difficult question. Arthur would have a year to figure out the answer and, if after a year, he still had no answer, he would be put to death.

The question?....What do women really want? Such a question would perplex even the most knowledgeable man, and to young Arthur, it seemed an impossible query. But, since it was better than death, he accepted the monarch's proposition to have an answer by year's end.

He returned to his kingdom and began to poll everyone: the princess, the priests, the wise men and even the court jester. He spoke with everyone, but no one could give him a satisfactory answer.

Many people advised him to consult the old witch, for only she would have the answer.

But the price would be high; as the witch was famous throughout the kingdom for the exorbitant prices she charged.

The last day of the year arrived and Arthur had no choice but to talk to the witch. She agreed to answer the question, but he would have to agree to her price first.

The old witch wanted to marry Sir Lancelot, the most noble of the Knights of the Round Table and Arthur's closest friend!

Young Arthur was horrified. She was hunchbacked and hideous, had only one tooth, smelled like sewage, made obscene noises, etc. He had never encountered such a repugnant creature in all his life.

He refused to force his friend to marry her and endure such a terrible burden; but Lancelot, learning of the proposal, spoke with Arthur.

He said nothing was too big of a sacrifice compared to Arthur's life and the preservation of the Round Table.

Hence, a wedding was proclaimed and the witch answered Arthur's question thus:

What a woman really wants, she answered....is to be in charge of her own life.

Everyone in the kingdom instantly knew that the witch had uttered a great truth and that Arthur's life would be spared.

And so it was, the neighboring monarch granted Arthur his freedom and Lancelot and the witch had a wonderful wedding.

The honeymoon hour approached and Lancelot, steeling himself for a horrific experience, entered the bedroom. But, what a sight awaited him. The most beautiful woman he had ever seen lay before him on the bed. The astounded Lancelot asked what had happened

The beauty replied that since he had been so kind to her when she appeared as a witch, she would henceforth, be her horrible deformed self only half the time and the beautiful maiden the other half.

Which would he prefer? Beautiful during the day....or night?

Lancelot pondered the predicament. During the day, a beautiful woman to show off to his friends, but at night, in the privacy of his castle, an old witch? Or, would he prefer having a hideous witch during the day, but by night, a beautiful woman for him to enjoy wondrous intimate moments?

What would YOU do?

What Lancelot chose is below. BUT....make YOUR choice before you scroll down below. OKAY?

Noble Lancelot said that he would allow HER to make the choice herself.

Upon hearing this, she announced that she would be beautiful all the time because he had respected her enough to let her be in charge of her own life.

Now....what is the moral to this story?

Scroll down

The moral is.....
If you don't let a woman have her own way....
Things are going to get ugly

The Robot Bartender
The Robot Bartender

A man enters a bar and orders a drink. The bar has a robot bartender working behind the counter.

The robot serves him a perfectly prepared cocktail, and then asks him, "What's your IQ, sir?"

The man replies, "150" and the robot proceeds to make conversation about global warming factors, quantum physics and spirituality, biomimicry, environmental interconnectedness, string theory, nanotechnology, and the inaccuracies in The DaVinci Code.

The customer is very impressed and thinks, "This is really cool. I wonder if it works every time?" He decides to test the robot. He walks out of the bar, turns around, and comes back in for another drink. Again, the robot serves him the perfectly prepared drink and asks him, "What's your IQ?"

The man responds, "About a 100."

Immediately the robot starts talking, but this time, about football, NASCAR, baseball, supermodels, favorite fast foods, guns, and women's body parts.

Really impressed, the man leaves the bar and decides to give the robot one more test. He heads out and returns, the robot serves him and asks, "What's your IQ?"

The man replies, "Er, about 50, I think."

And the robot says....real slow,

"So..... is... your... party... gonna... nominate... Hillary... for.. president ???

The Explorer
by Robert Byron

Henry had been exploring the mountain wilderness for what seemed like an
eternity and a day but in reality it had only been two days. He had come to
know the area like a blind man knows the back of a complete strangers hand
and now he was lost in this unforgiving land that was void of fast food
restaurants and dry cleaners because he was too lazy to take the map out of
his back pocket of his Levi Strauss and Company original 501 denim jeans.
His hunger churned like the waves of a stormy sea but Henry would not have
known that fact because he had never been to the ocean. He decided that he
must eat before pressing on.

He opened a can of beans and was reminded of a time that seemed so long ago
but was only a week ago when he had been having dinner with the former
governor of the state who had resigned when it was found out that he had
bribed government officials to pass a law allowing riverboat gambling on
public airlines. Yes, that day he had eaten a healthy portion of beans and
broccoli casserole but he had no time to think about such things now. Even
though he longed for a can of potted meat, he knew that he had to find his
way back to civilization and he had to do so quickly as this was his last
can of beans except for the three dozen or so that he had stashed away in
his backpack along with two pairs of pants, seven shirts, eight pairs of
socks and an extra pair of underwear. Henry knew that if he failed to find
his way back he would surely starve in a matter of weeks unless he were able
to find an ample supply of food that he thought he could probably find
without much trouble at all. His belly full of beans, Henry moved onward.

The mountains surrounded the valley like really, really big things
surrounding a really, really little thing and Henry climbed the mountain
like a speeding locomotive wouldn't. He climbed higher and higher and higher
and higher and higher until he was almost to the summit and then he climbed
higher and higher and higher until he reached the top. He had no time to
rest but he decided that he would rest and while he rested he surveyed the
area like a dog looking for a big juicy bone that had just been cut off a
steak and tossed like a boomerang into the wind. In the distance he could
see the sun setting like a one hundred pound lead pipe falling on a four
ounce rotten orange and smashing it into oblivion. He decided to camp there
for the night and his thoughts turned to the woman he loved but who had just
broken up with him because he was co-dependant and didn't floss regularly
and was always leaving his socks in the fish bowl.

Henry awoke the next morning and decided he had explored all he needed of
the wilderness of trees and woodland creatures. It was time he went home to
his empty house except for all his furniture and a big pile of money and
other possessions and his two roommates and their stuff. He pulled the map
from his back pocket and calculated that over the next ridge was highway 187
and if he took the north route he could turn left on route 33 and follow it
to the lake that holds water and fish, he'd be home by early evening. So
that's what he did and he even had time to stop at Stuckeys and have a pecan
log roll.

LOST IN THE FIFTIES
A little house with three bedrooms and one car on the street,
A mower that you had to push to make the grass look neat.
In the kitchen on the wall we only had one phone,
And no need for recording things, someone was always home.
We only had a living room where we would congregate,
Unless it was at mealtime in the kitchen where we ate.
We had no need for family rooms or extra rooms to dine,
When meeting as a family just one room would work out fine
We only had one TV set, and channels, maybe two,
But always there was one of them with something worth the view.
For snacks we had potato chips that tasted like a chip,
And if you wanted flavor there was Lipton's onion dip.
Store-bought snacks were rare because my mother liked to cook,
And nothing can compare to snacks in Betty Crocker's book.
Weekends were for family trips or staying home to play,
We all did things together -- even go to church to pray.
Sometimes we would separate to do things on our own,
But we knew where the others were, without our own cell phone.
Then there were the movies with your favorite movie star,
And nothing can compare to watching movies from your car.
Then there were the picnics at the peak of summer season,
Pack a lunch and find some trees and never need a reason.
Get a baseball game together with all the friends you know,
Have real action playing ball -- and no game video.
Remember when the doctor used to be the family friend,
And didn't need insurance or a lawyer to defend?
The way that he took care of you or what he had to do,
Because he took an oath and strived to do the best for you.
Remember going to the store when the skies were oh so sunny,
And when you paid for what you got you used your very own money?
Nothing you had to swipe or punch, or put in some amount,
and you had a friendly cashier that actually could count?
The milkman went from door to door,
For just a few cents more than a trip to the store.
The mail was delivered right to your door,
Without the junk mail that we all deplore.
There was a time when just one glance was all that it would take,
And you would know the kind of car, the model and the make.
They didn't look like turtles trying to squeeze out every mile;
They were streamlined, white walls, fins, and really had some style.
One time the music that you played whenever you would jive,
Was from a vinyl, big-holed disc they called a forty-five.
The record player had a post to keep them all in line,
And then the records would drop down and play one at a time.
Oh sure, we had our problems then, just like we do today,
As always we were striving, to find a better way.
But how the simple lives we led, still seems like so much fun,
when the only way to explain a game, was just kick the can and run?
And why would boys put baseball cards between bicycle spokes,
And for a nickel red machines had little bottled Cokes?
This life seemed so much easier and slower in some ways,
I love the new technology but I really miss those days.
So time moves on and so do we, and nothing stays the same,
But I sure love to reminisce and walk down memory lane.

e) is going to have kids

I was packing for my business trip and my 3-year old daughter was
having a wonderful time playing on the bed. At one point she
said,
"Daddy, look at this," and stuck out two of her fingers.
Trying to keep her entertained, I reached out and stuck her tiny
fingers in my mouth and said, "Daddy's gonna eat your fingers!"
pretending to eat them before I rushed out of the room again.
When I returned, my daughter was standing on the bed staring at
her
fingers with a devastated look on her face.

I said, "What's wrong, honey?"

She replied, "What happened to my booger?"

When Jack was employed at his denomination's headquarters, it was customary
for all employees to pause for prayer each morning at 9:00. A "prayer bell"
signaled the beginning and ending of this daily routine.

Occasionally, though, employees would find themselves on the phone during
prayer time, and the entire office, now quiet, would overhear their
conversation.

One morning during prayer time, a co-worker named Paul could be heard in the
office, shouting, "Hello? Hello? I can hear you. Can you hear me?"

After the ending bell, I overheard someone else comment, "I think Paul's
having a hard time getting through to the Lord this morning."

I'm half blind, can't hear anything quieter than a jet engine, take 40 different medications that make me dizzy, winded, and subject to blackouts. Have bouts with dementia. Have poor circulation; hardly feel my hands and feet anymore. Can't remember if I'm 85 or 92. Have lost all my friends. But, thank God, I still have my driver's license.

--- I feel like my body has gotten totally out of shape, so I got my doctor's permission to join a fitness club and start exercising. I decided to take an aerobics class for seniors. I bent, twisted, gyrated, jumped up and down, and perspired for an hour. But, by the time I got my leotards on, the class was over.

--- An elderly woman decided to prepare her will and told her preacher she had two final requests. First, she wanted to be cremated, and second, she wanted her ashes scattered over Wal-Mart.

--- These days about half the stuff in my shopping cart says, "For fast relief."

--- I've tried to find a suitable exercise video for women my age, but they haven't made one called "Buns of Putty."

--- Don't think of it as getting hot Flashes. Think of it as your inner child playing with matches.

--- Don't let aging get you down. It's too hard to get back up!

--- Remember: You don't stop laughing because you grow old, You grow old because you stop laughing.

--- THE SENILITY PRAYER : Grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway, the good fortune to run into the ones I do, and the eyesight to tell the difference.

Exchange Policy
by Robert Byron

When my wife and I became engaged to be married, my father in-law to be
joked with me about how it used to be customary in some American Indian
cultures for the groom to offer something in return for the hand of a mans
daughter. "For instance," he said, "a young brave might give his future
wife's father a horse and blanket in exchange for permission to marry his
daughter."

I told him that I would keep that in mind.

During the course of our wedding planning, my wife and I purchased a toy
horse and a small blanket to present to her father at the rehearsal dinner.
We figured we would have the last laugh on this one and couldn't wait until
we could "make the trade."

As is customary at a rehearsal dinner, we handed out gifts to the
bridesmaids and groomsmen. Afterwards, we announced that we had a gift for
my fiancé's father and explained that it used to be customary in some
American Indian cultures for the groom to offer something in return for the
hand of a mans daughter. We handed over a small wrapped box and my father
in-law to be chuckled as he opened it in anticipation of the joke at hand.
Everyone had a good laugh as he held up the toy horse and blanket for our
families and friends to see.

Gripping his prize and with a smile on his face, he turned to me and said,
"Just remember; no refunds, no returns. All sales are final."

GREAT TRUTHS THAT ADULTS HAVE LEARNED:

1) Raising teenagers is like nailing Jell-O to a tree.

2) Wrinkles don't hurt.

nuts.
4) Today's mighty oak is just yesterday's nut that
held its ground.

GREAT TRUTHS ABOUT GROWING OLD

Thanks to PW: Church Attendance by Steve Higginbotham

A preacher was getting a little concerned about the
lagging attendance at the congregation where he
preached. So in the weekly church bulletin, the
preacher wrote the following:

This . . . is . . . the . . . way . . . the . . .
church . . . sometimes .. . looks . . . to . . .
the . . . preacher . . . when . . . he . . . goes .
. . into . . . the . . . pulpit. . . to . . . deliver
. . . his . . .message.

Point Made!

Friends, beware! Much like an automobile, a Christian
usually begins to miss before he completely quits!

From a friend: SPONGES

There are 5 sponges laying on your kitchen counter
top. Each member of your family has been cleaning up
different areas of your home, but all the sponges look
the same. You are curious as to what was cleaned in
your home, but you can't tell by looking...they all
look the same....so what do you do?

You squeeze each sponge to see what comes out.

As you squeeze the first sponge, you see that cola
comes out, and so you decide that someone cleaned the
kitchen with that one.

Upon squeezing the second sponge, you find tub and
tile cleaner -- that one was used to clean the
bathroom.

Next, in the third sponge, you find motor oil -- hubby
was cleaning the garage!

In the fourth sponge, baby powder puffs out when it is
squeezed -- yep, the baby's nursery was done with that
one!

And finally, in the last one, is floor wax -- that was
the one you used on the hall floor!

As you lay the last one down, you look again at their
similarity -- and they all look the same until they're
squeezed.

Christians are the same way.

As life squeezes us, different things come out --
anger from one, a need for revenge from another, tears
from one, remorse from yet another -- also greed,
untruth, lust -- and finally, from one saint, pours
forth the love of Christ.

Just like the sponge, we can only squeeze out what is
put in -- stay in the Word daily, and be in continuous
prayer, so that when life puts the squeeze on you (and
it WILL), Jesus, and Jesus ALONE will shine forth from
you!

Have a blessed, squeaky clean day!

There was an unexpected knock on my door, and like I always
do I first opened the peephole and asked, "Who's there?"

"Parcel post, ma'am. I have a package that needs a
signature."

"Where's the package?" I asked suspiciously. The deliveryman
held it up.

"Could I see some ID?" I said, still not convinced.

"Lady," he replied wearily, "if I wanted to break into your
house, I'd probably just use these." And he pulled out the
keys I had left in the door.
